Sometimes God Is Ready for Someone to Click the Shutter...

"Sometimes I arrive just when God's ready to have someone click the shutter." — Ansel Adams

Few quotations have captured the heart of nature photography as beautifully as these words from Ansel Adams. Whether Adams intended them as a profound statement of faith or as an expression of wonder, they resonate deeply with photographers who believe that the beauty of creation is a gift from God and that every photograph is an opportunity to bear witness to it.

As photographers, we often speak about "capturing" an image. Yet the truth is, we create very little on our own.

We do not paint the sunrise across the horizon. We do not sculpt the mountains, carve the canyons, or place the stars in the night sky. We cannot command the elk to step into a meadow, ask an eagle to soar overhead, or summon wildflowers to bloom at just the right moment. We do not create the fog that softens the forest or the storm clouds that part just long enough to reveal a beam of golden light.
